Greetings, short story lovers, and welcome to round two of the quarterfinals.
We have two familiar faces battling today. Albert Berg is familiar to all arena readers, having brought home the original arena victory with “Daisy Daisy.” He has touched our hearts with “The Stars Also” and trapped us forever with “Punitive Measures.”
In the other corner we have the indefatigable Donald Uitvlugt. A familiar face as well, although from the opposite side of the competition, Donald has been one of our judges since time out of mind (though he has also been a competitor with “The Lovebug Murders“).
Their mystery prompt?
But we didn’t want some vague concept of death. Oh no. Our authors had to write a story in which Death itself was a character.
Who will come out on top?
Let’s find out.
Battle Death has begun!
We have two judges that will render their decision next Monday. The third vote comes from you, the readers. We ask that you read both stories objectively, and then leave a comment below or on the story itself. Authors are not allowed to comment on their own stories, but we’re sure they’ll be checking in here. We’ll tally up the totals and announce our champion on Monday.
And remember, if you like one of this week’s stories, vote it up in the new all-time best of list (new stories appear at the bottom).
