TWA #36 – Spelunking Battle Thread

“Howling in the Deep” by Tony Southcotte

“Reluctant Hors d’oeuvres” by David Neilsen

680718772_2d8f68ed43_b-001Welcome, faithful readers, to this week’s subterranean battle.

We wanted our authors to go underground in this go-round, and we asked them to write us a story about a cave.

We didn’t care if it was cramped or cavernous, heavenly or hideous, we just wanted our characters to go underground.

Who pulled out the win? Who spelunked off more than they could spelunk?

Let’s find out.

Representing the arena this week is Tony Southcotte with “Howling in the Deep.”

Challenging him is David Neilsen with “Reluctant Hors d’oeuvres.”

The clash of the caves is on!

Read, comment, vote, enjoy!

We have two judges that will render their decision by Friday. The third vote comes from you, the readers. We ask that you read both stories objectively, and then leave a comment below or on the story itself. Authors are not allowed to comment on their own stories, but we’re sure they’ll be checking in here. We’ll tally up the totals and announce our champion on Friday.

  1. “Who spelunked off more than they could spelunk?”

    I’m not sure that’s how that works…

  2. We really need to get these two stories together. Kevin vs. the Howler, with plenty of tasty ancillary characters!

    • I think my money’s on the Howler. I hear it put a serious beating on the Jersey Devil. And that was in a Ladder match, which as we all know is the Jersey Devil’s speciality.

  3. I’m voting for “Reluctant Hors d’oeuvres.” Super funny!
