TWA #14 – Cthulhu in Space

Cthulhu in SpaceWelcome short story lovers.

This week in the arena we are going back to our horror roots and visiting with one of the grandfather’s of the genre. Our authors have been tasked with writing a story in the tradition of H.P. Lovecraft. Eldritch mists and tentacled beings will abound. However, we also threw in the added twist of requiring the tales to be science fiction.

So there will be tentacles…in space?

Up this week we have Joseph Devon battling for the arena.

Competing against him, in the first ever repeat challenger, is David Webb:

DaveBorn in England, David tried to identify his ancestral roots by having his DNA tested. The lab results came back accompanied by a note reading simply “oh dear.”

He lives somewhere in the middle of England, where his tendency for sarcasm and his crippling addiction to tea pass without comment by the general population. He likes reading and writing, history, science fiction and things that are silly, neatly combining all of these by venerating (as all Brits surely do) Doctor Who.

He recently acquired a Bowler hat and is not afraid to wear it in public.

Let’s do this thing.

On a side note, we are paying our authors a base level rate at the moment, but if you really enjoyed their story and want to help us make sure these awesome people get paid, please donate below. 75% goes to the author, the rest goes to keeping this place up and running.

  1. Y’know, technically speaking, any story featuring Old Squid Head or his chums is a science fiction story. He’s an Alien, after all. And better than that, he’s the type of alien the Daily Mail hates: comes over here, stealing our prehistory, laying about for millennia doing nothing…
