TWA #10 – Machine Made Art Battle Thread

“Blue Swan” by Joseph Devon

“Intrinsic” by Benjamin Thomas

robot painterLovers of short stories, welcome to another battle of authors.

This week our writers had to ponder what sort of art might be created if a machine were somehow to create art. What might a clock play on a piano? What color would a steam engine draw with? Can a robot write a book?

Representing The Writer’s Arena, Joseph Devon brings us “Blue Swan.”

Challenging him is Benjamin Thomas with “Intrinsic.”

Read! Comment! Enjoy! Discuss!

We have two judges that will render their decision by Friday. The third vote comes from you, the readers. We ask that you read both stories objectively, and then leave a comment below or on the story itself. Authors aren’t allowed to comment on their own stories, but we’re sure they’ll be checking in here. We’ll tally up the totals and announce our champion on Friday.

On a side note, we are paying our authors a base level rate at the moment, but if you really enjoyed their story and want to help us make sure these awesome people get paid, please donate below. 75% goes to the author, the rest goes to keeping this place up and running.

  1. oh my word. Phenomenal battle here in the arena this week.

  2. I wanted throw this in: the prompts on this site have consistently produced entertaining and thought provoking stories, but this week has been particularly impressive. In addition to the fun of reading the two stories, and the agony of deciding which I enjoyed more, there’s also been the anticipation of finding out what the writers would do with the prompt. The battles keep getting better.

Completely agreed. I await with anticipation to see how each writer will interpret the prompt, and as I’ve said before, no matter who ends up getting the top votes each week, it’s the readers who ultimately win.
