True art has always been a human endeavor, an expression of emotion and subtlety that has been unique to our species thus far. This week, we ask that you write a short story about a machine that produces art. The definition of machine is broad in this, so make sure you explore all of your options.
There are no restrictions on writing style or perspective.
The story must be less than 5,000 words. Stories will be published here on Wednesday and then judged by you and our panel. A winner will be declared on Friday.
Representing the Arena this week is the Jersey Devil himself, Joseph Devon. Our challenger this week is Benjamin Thomas.
Benjamin Thomas writes from New England where he unequally balances time between concerts, hiking, the beach, and quoting seemingly random movies. He is currently working to obtain his MFA from Albertus Magnus College. His writing has appeared in various e-zines and anthologies. He lives with his girlfriend and their Australian shepherd Aurora. And there you have it folks, our tenth battle is set! Will you be participating at home with your own story? If so, drop it in the comments of the battle thread later this week so we can all check it out.
On a side note, we are paying our authors a base level rate at the moment, but if you really enjoyed their story and want to help us make sure these awesome people get paid, please donate below. 75% goes to the author, the rest goes to keeping this place up and running.
